Fanny Bilodeau Oil Painting on Plaster of Paris
Sizes vary between 4" x 6" Upper Ke'e, 4.5" x 5.5" The Visit (little chick)
5.5" x 7" Cocky Guy (rooster), 6" x 5" Ke'e Beach
The first step Fanny did was to wrap gauze dipped in Plaster of Paris several times around a substrate. When that is dry it is covered with more coats of Plaster of Paris. When the Plaster of Paris has cured it is sanded and receives several coats of gesso (gesso is a liquid primer that seals the surface). Then, the structure is antiqued with washes of paint before it is ready to accept an oil painting.
