Local Spot: KIKO Kauai by Rebecca of Ivy & Co.

Local Spot: Kiko Kauai
by Rebecca on April 5th, 2015

There’s a little shop down a little alley that I pass when I take my little head bands to a. ell atelier. I’m usually rushing by, so I never go in. Correction- I never went in, until a few days ago. Kiko is it’s name and “simple goods” is it’s game, and it’s going to be hard to pass up the next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Let’s just be real and compare it to a locally owned version of Anthropologie (probably what the anthro-heads envisioned when they started, but then they went corporate!) It has that same feel that appeals to so many senses and inspires all aspects of your life.

Like, you’re not in a bookstore, but suddenly you want to read books. You’re not in a kid’s store, but you can pick up some eco-conscious goodies for your keiki. Jewelry? Feather candles? Eye glasses? Towels? They have it all. And you want it all.

I particularly like these paper bags that are so much more than paper bags.

And at least one of these succulent size pots will go with my home decor, right?
(I’m thinking grey or yellow.)

What I loved most was seeing Maui’s own Wrappily sold here.

If you aren’t familiar with Wrappily, (eco-friendly wrapping paper), check it out here.

This door. I don’t know if it goes anywhere, but I love it.

The owner, Micki, was so sweet and gave Ivy a special little dragonfly toy to take home with her.

Natasha, Micki’s business partner, was equally as inviting while we talked about the wonderful space they curated. “We just wanted to create a shop with products that we love,” Natasha says. And I think they did that most excellently.

Kiko means ‘spot’ or ‘mark’ in Hawaiian. Over the past few days I’ve been thinking, almost longing, to go back to this spot in Kapaa town. I want to look at all the pretty things, buy something, and wear or use it everyday. Kiko is definitely making it’s mark on Kauai. Whether local or visiting, don’t pass up the opportunity to drop in.

Outside Kiko Simple Goods
After my visit to Kiko, I felt like I was supposed to sit out on the bright red chairs and talk poetry with my best friend. Those dots on the wall? They’re vases. GET IN MY HOUSE.
